Tom Denly
Tom's first advertisement for selling collectible currency appeared in Canadian Coin News in 1959 when he was only 14. At that time, he had already been a collector for 8 years! In 1973, he started Denly’s of Boston while working in the family travel business. Since that very first year, his name has grown into the business which is known and respected worldwide.
Tom has been a contributor to over 20 currency collecting publications and is now Pricing Editor for Whitman Publishing’s currency publications. His most recent projects include the pricing for the following publications by Q. David Bowers: The Whitman Encyclopedia of Paper Money, The Hundred Greatest American Currency Notes and The Official Red Book Guide of United States Paper Money. He has also given presentations at the Central States and ANA Conventions and has received numerous awards from the Society of Paper Money.
Tom is a 24 year member of the Professional Numismatic Guild (and presently serves as Treasurer), Life Member #1 of the Society of Paper Money Collectors, a life member of the American Numismatic Association, and charter member and past president of the Professional Currency Dealers Association.
Tom is married with two children. His wife Anita is retired. She has recently received her Master’s Degree in Gastronomy and still continues to study. His daughter Carla, 35, is an independent documentary film producer on the west coast. She has won a number of awards and has produced many segments for PBS's Nova Science Now. Tom's son Michael, 26, is pursuing a career in international diplomacy and is fluent in five languages.
Tom, when he takes a break from his work and family, loves to fish. Many of his ads and his website incorporate his passion for currency collecting and fishing.
Tom is a true collector's dealer and his first priority in business is maintaining a friendly, educational, personal atmosphere.
